Biografía

Henryk Średnicki fought twice at the Olympics, in 1976 and 1980, making the quarter-finals in 1980. He was the top European boxer in his weight class in the late 1970s, winning the flyweight World title in 1978, and the European title in 1977 and 1979, as a flyweight in 1977 and light-flyweight in 1979. Średnicki also competed at the 1974 World Championships, losing his first match as a light-fly. He was a six-time Polish Champion, winning at light-flyweight in 1974-76, flyweight in 1978-79, and bantamweight in 1982. He also won the Feliks Stamm Tournament three times, as a flyweight in 1977-78 and bantamweight in 1982. He fought for several different clubs, including GKS Katowice, GKS Tychy, GKS Górnik Hawks, and Sosnowiec. Średnicki later became a coach, running a boxing school in Myszków. His best known pupil was Łukasz Maszczyk, a four-time European medalist.
