Biografía

Dave Mayor competed in weightlifting at the 1936 Olympics, placing 12th in the heavyweight division. Mayor was AAU Champion as a heavyweight in 1937. He was known for his physique, with arms measuring more than 19 inches (48 cm) in the 1930s, considered the largest muscular arms in that era. Mayor later spent several years in professional wrestling, and then worked as a regional director for York Barbell. He also became one of the early strength coaches in professional sports, helping train the Dallas Cowboys in the 1960s and serving as a strength training consultant to the Vesper Boat Club eight that won the gold medal at the 1964 Olympics.
