Biografía

Before World War I, Charles Dowson was one of the finest walkers in England, and won the South London Harriers 2-mile race at Kennington Oval in 1913. The following year he was placed second in the AAA 2-mile walk, and in the first post-war Championships in 1919, was second in the 7-mile walk. However, in 1920 Dowson won both events, and then competed in the two walks at the Olympics. A civil servant, Dowson worked for the post office and won many Civil Service Sports titles.

Personal Bests: 3000W – 13:28e (1920); 2 mile Walk – 14:32.0 (1920); 7 mile Walk – 53:31.2 (1919).
