About this episode
Oyuna Uranchimeg saw a quote on Facebook one day. 'You never know how strong you are until that's the only choice you have,' it said. Nothing sums up her feelings towards her life more than this. Exactly 22 years ago, she was visiting the United States from Mongolia when she suffered a life changing car accident. She has spent the rest of her life in a wheelchair. Oyuna only took up wheelchair curling six years ago but she has excelled in the sport. So, aged 48, she goes to her first Paralympic Games with Team USA. Oyuna speaks lucidly about her mental struggles with accepting her disability, how her children saved her life, and her surreal experience in becoming an athlete later in life.
