Stage Preview

Torch no. 1 will weave its way around Seine-Saint-Denis in the same vein as the Olympic Torch Relay. It will go through Épinay-sur-Seine, Villetaneuse, Sevran, Livry-Gargan, Clichy-sous-Bois, Montfermeil, Pantin and Le Pré-Saint-Gervais before the Torch festival held in the evening at PRISME in Bobigny.

Where creativity and innovation meet youth

Seine-Saint-Denis, the youngest department in metropolitan France, is also one of its most innovative and creative. It channels art in its role as a cradle of urban culture and home to a whole constellation of theatres and a Scène nationale. It also epitomises sport through its PRISME project and its athletes. Furthermore, it boasts a vibrant economic, social and charitable entrepreneurial base. This "World Territory", with over 130 nationalities and 170 languages, will host the world in a show of Olympic spirit. It also boasts a rich heritage, with 75 historical monuments, including the Basilica of Saint-Denis and a substantial industrial, natural and urban heritage: a garden city, Les Espaces Abraxas… This unique slice of land contributes to evolving perspectives on the banlieues.

Evolving perspectives on para-sport

On the occasion of the Games, the department has rolled out an ambitious para-sport strategy to boost the inclusion of people with disabilities through sports and transform the perception of disability. Leveraging the resources of PRISME, the department has accelerated the development of para-sports through training programmes for clubs, multi-sport schools and middle schools. Furthermore, the department has bought 13,000 tickets to the Paralympic Games for middle school pupils to support evolving perspectives on para-sport.

Seine-Saint-Denis will host the Paralympic Torch Relay on the eve of the opening of the Games. This tour of nine towns and cities and its focus on the people and places involved in the development of para-sport will rally the entire department behind this fun-filled, popular and historic day. After the segment winds to a close in Bobigny, the department will host a celebration there to unveil this new venue for para-sports, which will take pride of place among the legacy of the 2024 Paralympic Games.
