Rémy Morelon will carry the Olympic Torch. Here’s his story:
Rémy embodies both the fundamental values of sport and those at the core of the French Republic. As a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher, he was quick to set up an initiative to take a class of students to the Paralympic Games, demonstrating a sports-focused and inclusive mindset. He was also the driving force behind the school's inclusion in the “Generation 2024” programme, leading to the creation of an Olympic class for each school year. In addition to his professional commitments, Rémy has been involved in community volleyball for several years, as a player devoted to his team and as a coach for youngsters, always keen to provide his club with exemplary support.
On a personal level, Rémy is a true model of success. Initially a school drop-out from a disadvantaged background, he discovered his vocation for educating and teaching young people when working as an AED (teaching assistant). It was a light bulb moment that led him to resume his studies at 24, despite the various challenges involved in combining his university studies with jobs as a teaching assistant at several schools, mainly boarding. His determination and personal commitment eventually led him to pass the CAPEPS (Physical and Sports Education Teaching Certificate) exam in 2021. All of this – along with his rigorous attitude, dedication to excellence, solidarity mindset and ability to give his all – make Rémy an ideal candidate to literally and figuratively carry the Olympic Torch.
