Ning Deng will carry the Olympic Torch. This is her story:
As a foreign woman with a passion for sharing culture in an international context, Ning has travelled halfway around the world to work in France. Her sporting and ecological commitments guide her day-to-day actions. Firstly, as a volunteer in an association, she has helped to organise sporting events for students. She has also helped a talented foreign taekwondo athlete to obtain his professional coaching certification in France.
Furthermore, she has taken part in charity races to raise funds for sick children, as well as running as part of a pair, as a guide to help a disabled person cross the finishing line. These experiences have enabled her to combine her passion for sport with her desire to help others. In addition, her commitment to the environment can be seen in a number of concrete actions. Her final-year engineering project focused on the use of LIDAR to estimate CO2 emissions in French Guiana.
She has also organised student events to pick up litter in the streets and raise awareness among young people of the importance of preserving the environment. Finally, she actively supports foreign members of the Chinese community who are finding it difficult to integrate in France. As a representative of FDJ, a partner of the 2024 Paris Games, on the Olympic Torch Relay, Ning is honoured to be able to promote the values of unity, inclusion and solidarity conveyed by the Olympic Games.
