Mike Chapellier will carry the Olympic torch. This is his story:
Meet Mike, a dedicated serviceman who has been a part of the French Army and later the military health service since 2000. Based in Poitiers since 2017, he had the honour of marching down the Champs-Élysées during the Bastille Day celebrations on 14 July 2019. His current role as a food and water safety inspector allows him to apply his eco-friendly values, which he passionately instils in his children.
At the same time, Mike has been a volunteer firefighter since age 16, showcasing his dedication to community safety and service. A keen cycling tourist, he has even earned federal instructor credentials in this area. Mike's commitment to the community shines brightly at the Avenir Cyclo du Val d'Auxance cycling tourism school, where he shares his passion with his wife and two children and local youth.
As a volunteer, Mike is actively involved in training sessions and supports young cyclists during their competitions. His unwavering dedication to the community and enthusiasm for nurturing the next generation make him an inspiring role model for everyone.
