Marie-Rolande Biro

Marie-Rolande Biro will carry the Olympic Torch. This is her story:

Marie-Rolande was the pillar of the judo club in Épinay-sous-Sénart for four decades alongside her husband. Their exceptional commitment was rewarded in 2015 when they were made knights of the French Legion of Honour. Under their supervision, the club witnessed the emergence of great champions, including Djamel Bourras, who have flown the flag high for French judo.

Yet, beyond this sporting success, Marie-Rolande symbolises her region's energy and generosity. As a dedicated volunteer, she has touched the lives of thousands of children in the Yerres Valley, sharing her love of judo and passing on values such as respect, discipline and friendship.
