Katia Martinet will carry the Olympic torch. This is her story:

Katia, a PE teacher at La Salle middle school for 22 years, embodies the attributes of passion, determination and motivation. Fuelled by an infectious enthusiasm, she deeply engages with her profession, always driven by innovative and sometimes daring ideas that captivate her students, encouraging them to learn in novel ways. For many years, she has drawn inspiration from Olympism and its values in her teaching projects, making them her guiding principles.

Respect, tolerance, fair play, pushing the limits, courage and friendship are values that she strives to impart to her students, most notably through initiatives such as the Olympic and Paralympic Week (OPW). Since 2017, she has spearheaded this event in tandem with the Laval disabled sports club, engaging up to 800 students in thematic workshops. Her dedication even earned her school the "Génération 2024" label.

Katia is always on the front foot, crafting unique experiences for her students, from rubbing shoulders with champions and diving into Olympic-themed exhibitions to diving into creative projects steeped in Olympism. As a "Génération 2024" ambassador, she actively encourages and supports events during the Olympic and Paralympic Week (OPW) within schools.

Her commitment extends beyond borders, as evidenced by her Erasmus project aiming to live the Olympic Games experience within the school, partnering with schools in Malta and Greece. She is also giving 30 students the opportunity to attend a Paralympic Games event, proving her non-stop dedication to inspiring her pupils and helping them grow. For all these reasons, Katia is an ideal candidate to become an Olympic torchbearer, continuing to light up both the Games and the minds of her students.
