Florence Vaubaillon will carry the Olympic torch. This is her story:
With a STAPS (sports and physical activity sciences) degree in Education and Motor Skills, Florence has built a career as a sport and fitness coach at an MJC (Youth and Cultural House). At the same time, she obtained a vocational diploma in fitness training. In 2019, driven by a desire to give even more to others, especially those facing challenges, she took on the challenge of pursuing an Adapted Physical Activity and Health STAPS degree through a VAE (credit for life and work experience) scheme.
After several "challenging" months juggling her professional commitments with her VAE, she achieved her goal. Since the end of the pandemic, Florence has initiated workshops at the Youth and Cultural Centre, teaming up with a wide range of medical organisations, and support groups for young people (and the not so young), charities aiding patients (e.g. with Alzheimer's) and organisations for people over 60. The goal is to get them on the move. These workshops have been a big hit, and for all these reasons, Florence is set to illuminate the Games!
