Alexandra Fourcaud will carry the Olympic Torch. This is her story:
Since she was a teenager, Alexandra has been actively involved in her town's community life. She has been a keen sportswoman from an early age and has been teaching hip-hop dancing for the last 15 years. The fact that hip-hop dance has been made an official part of the Olympic Games is a source of great pride for her, as this discipline embodies the values she holds dear, such as respect, sharing and unity.
In tandem with her teaching, Alexandra regularly spends time volunteering at local events, such as the Christmas festivities and the “Danse dans tous ses états” event celebrating all aspects of dance. She also invites renowned national and international choreographers to take part in dance workshops that are open to all, promoting openness to different artistic practices and cultural enrichment for all. Alexandra is keen to pass on her passion and values, so she also works with young people in the region’s secondary and primary schools.
In addition, for over two years she has been collaborating to produce the choreography of the dance troop “À corps perdus” (body and soul), made up of adults with disabilities. This experience has made her deeply aware of the challenges of inclusion and she is therefore working hard to set up inclusive projects within her regular courses.
