Aurélie Lefevre will carry the Olympic Torch. This is her story:
In 2024, Aurélie will celebrate her 30th birthday, a year marked by a process of reflection that began in 2017, when the Paris Games were officially announced. At the time, she was only just 23 years old and that prospect seemed far away. Within 7 years, she discovered running, firstly just over a few kilometres, then a 10-km race, a 9-km trail last winter and finally a 20-km race in Paris.
Her next objective could be a half marathon or even a marathon. For the last year and a half, Aurélie has also started paragliding. After two introductory sessions, she felt the urge to do it on her own. The sensation of leaving the ground and the freedom that comes with it are incomparable, she says. She now has more than 30 flights under her belt and has obtained her initial pilot's licence.
Last summer, she took the initiative of going alone to Costa Rica to help clean up the beaches, which were suffering from severe pollution. It was her first experience of travelling outside Europe and her first adventure alone. This trip was one of her greatest challenges. Against a backdrop of increasing global warming, she is doing her bit to limit environmental damage. Aurélie runs on land, flies in the air and helps to preserve the oceans. All she needs now is one more string to her bow: fire, thanks to the Olympic Torch, to complete her inspiring journey.
