Founded in 1946, the French Federation of Judo and Associated Disciplines now has 530,000 members in 5,200 affiliated clubs. A competitive sport, judo has won 52 World Championship titles, 48 Olympic medals, including 16 golds, and 15 Paralympic medals, including four golds.
As an educational martial art, judo has trained 200,000 black belts. Some 17,000 instructors supervise judo and its associated disciplines in the dojos. The major projects developed are training with the Dojo Academy, regional initiatives with the Itinéraire des Champions [Champions’ Itinerary] and the 1,000 Dojos programme, and sporting initiatives with the Paris Grand Slam and the Judo Pro League. The Olympic Torch Relay symbolises the transmission of the Olympic legacy, with values that judo shares and puts into practice on a daily basis.
Paris will be hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games for a 100th anniversary celebration of friendship and sharing. With its two team Olympic Torch Relays, the French Judo Federation is fully committed to and associated with this initiative, which is in harmony with the principles of judo.

The Suzini dojo plays host to elite sport, with Olympic champion Lucie Decosse and international competitions, as well as training sessions where young and old alike can learn from the high-ranking members or instructors. An art of living, philosophy of life, daily practice: the values conveyed by Olympism, combat sports and judo with its moral code are the same.
The Olympic Torch Relay will go through the dojo, with stages representing the diversity of combat sports, as well as Olympic sports.
The arrival of the Olympic Flame in French Guiana is an honour. May it continue to shine a light on the values of judo and all sports among our young people. Surpassing themselves on a daily basis will make them champions every day. Let's all support our athletes! An noualé!
