The French Athletics Federation (FFA) is an association governed by the Law of 1901 and founded in 1920.
With more than 300,000 members, its mission, as part of the delegation granted by the Ministry of Sport, is to develop, control and organise the practice of athletics in all its forms, to defend the moral and material interests of French athletics and to ensure the representation of these disciplines at international level. The FFA is growing rapidly and is developing its performance, leisure and health activities throughout France thanks to its 2,500 clubs. Athletics is a sport at the origin of all sports, athletics is universal in its simplicity, and based on freedom and respect, and the desire to surpass oneself.
This initiative moves us because the relay is a major athletics event in which team spirit can move mountains. By honouring federation members and volunteers, the Torch Relay underlines the collective dimension of sport that is so important to us.
