Stage Preview

Hauts-de-Seine, a department situated on the outskirts of Paris that is home to 1.6 million people, is one of the most vibrant parts of metropolitan France. The Olympic torch will illuminate all its unique aspects from its historical and cultural heritage to its sports scene. It will go through places such as Parc de Sceaux on its route from Sceaux to Clamart. It will then head to the Haras de Jardy, one of the three treasures of the department, along with Île Monsieur and the Maison de Châteaubriand.

Another segment will link the Sèvres National Porcelain Factory to Issy-les-Moulineaux. The Olympic torch will make a stop at Rueil-Malmaison and then between Gennevilliers and Colombes, where it will visit the Yves du Manoir Stadium. The site, which hosted the Paris 1924 Olympic Games, will be the venue for the field hockey events this summer. From there, the torch will go to Suresnes and the summit of Mont Valérien. A medieval cultural hub and a military fortress, it was the main execution site of the resistance fighters and hostages by the German army during World War II. The torch will call it a day in Nanterre, in the heart of Hauts-de-Seine.

Nanterre, a city with nearly 100,000 residents, as many workers, and 50,000 students, will be the final stop of the Olympic torch in Hauts-de-Seine. The local basketball team, Nanterre 92, has put this cosmopolitan city on the sporting map. The Olympic torch will travel three kilometres through the city. It will get going from the Gabriel Péri stadium, next to the Palais des Sports Maurice Thorez.

From there, it will go to the Parc André Malraux and the Paris La Défense Arena, which will feature a swimming pool during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Finally, the route will end under the Arche de la Défense, where the cauldron will be lit. The celebration site will be located opposite Nanterre City Hall, at the Gabriel Péri Stadium.
