Olympic Torch Relay Route
Stage Preview
Get ready for this extraordinary day that will lay bare the gems of Corsica for the world to see! The Olympic torch will begin its journey in Ajaccio, specifically on the Pointe de la Parata. This majestic vantage point over the Mediterranean is a pristine natural landscape and a nexus of history thanks to its iconic Genoese tower, which dates back to the 16th century. The torch will also venture into the city to shine a light on its Napoleonic heritage (Napoleon Bonaparte spent the first nine years of his life in Corsica) and Citadelle d'Ajaccio. From there it will set course for L'Île-Rousse, starting from Pointe de la Pietra before wandering around the city centre. The torch will make its way to the majestic Aiguilles de Bavella before trotting on the Viseo Racecourse in Zonza, famed as one of the highest in Europe. It will also rise to new heights in Corte at a lookout point commanding a spectacular view of the citadel. The next stopovers will be in Castagniccia and the villages of Piedicroce and Campana, with a detour to the Convent of Orezza. Next on the schedule are Porto-Vecchio and then Furiani, with a visit to Stade Armand-Cesari included. Finally, the torch will make its way to Bastia for the end-of-day celebrations.

The stage will finish on a high note in Bastia, recognised as a 'City of Art and History' in France. The torch will start its route in the streets of the citadel before plunging to the old harbour. It will run down the Promenade de l'Aldilonda—a footbridge leading to the seafront—past the Palais des Gouverneurs and into the Terra Vecchia neighbourhood. Its tour will come to a close in Place Saint-Nicolas, the focal point of Bastia. Local sports clubs will put on a show with demonstrations and introductions at the celebration site in front of a joyous crowd who will witness the historic arrival of the Olympic flame to their community.
