Tom Pidcock (GBR) wins gold!
What an unbelievable finish!
Pidcock and Koretzky (FRA) went head-to-head throughout the final lap, with the lead switching between the two men several times. Finally, in one of the wooded sections, Pidcock made his move and took an inside line to edge out just in front of his French opponent, with the latter having to take evasive action so as not to cause a crash.
It was a big gamble from Pidcock, who needed to ensure he was in front of Koretzky to avoid being penalised if there was a crash, and it paid off big time. The Tokyo champion now joins Julien Absalon (FRA) as the only man to have won two Olympic mountain bike gold medals. And he turns 25 tomorrow! What a birthday present he's given himself.
It's silver for Koretzky, meaning that France have finished on an Olympic podium in both the men's and women's events for the first time. Alan Hatherly (RSA) comes home for bronze, the first ever Olympic medal in mountain bike for any African NOC.
🥇Tom Pidcock (GBR): 1:26:22
🥈Victor Koretzky (FRA): 1:26:31
🥉Alan Hatherly (RSA): 1:26:33
Tom Pidcock on second mountain bike gold: "It was suffering, suffering"
We've just managed to speak to the now two-time Olympic champion, Tom Pidcock, after his earlier win in the men's mountain bike cross-country race.
"It's certainly pretty special," he said of his remarkable comeback. "It was suffering, suffering. I enjoy the races where I put the work in and it's kind of easier – Tokyo was better in that respect, because I was in control.
"Here, I was not in control, I was fighting to come back. I made two mistakes, I punctured and fell off the course in the same place, so it was a battle out there."
Daniel Wiffen comes close to Olympic record in qualifying top for men's 800m free
Speaking of Ireland, in case you missed it this morning in the pool at La Défense, Daniel Wiffen threatened the men's 800m freestyle Olympic record in qualifying as the fastest swimmer for Tuesday night's final.
The Irishman is the short-course world record holder in the event, and this morning was more than half a second faster than everyone else.
His 7:41.53 was within a quarter of a second of Mykhailo Romanchuk's Olympic record from Tokyo.
In a big surprise, Romanchuk finished 17th and missed the final, as did Australia's Sam Short, was was ninth.

Michael Jung (GER) wins eventing individual gold!
Michael Jung (GER) is the first rider to win the eventing individual competition three times!
The 41-year-old and his horse Chipmunk FRH didn't have the cleanest of runs on their first sequence around the course at Versailles, tallying four penalty points, but thanks to a great score in the dressage (17.80) and a clean second run in the jumping, the German was able to finish just ahead of Christopher Burton (AUS) in second.
Laura Collett (GBR) wins bronze a couple of hours after earning gold in the team competition with Great Britain.
🥇Michael Jung (GER): 21.80
🥈Christopher Burton (AUS): 22.40
🥉Laura Collett (GBR): 23.10
Djokovic beats Nadal in Paris 2024 second round
Sealed with an ace!
Nadal showed glimpses of his best in that second set, but it wasn't enough to hold off Djokovic.
The Philippe Chatrier crowd rises as one to salute two legends of the sport, as Djokovic waves to them.
Djokovic wins 6-1 6-4, while Nadal will now turn his attention to doubles with Carlos Alcaraz.
The crowd gives the Spaniard, a hero of this arena, a standing ovation as he leaves Chatrier for maybe the last time as a singles player.
Tom Pidcock (GBR) gaining on leader Victor Koretzky (FRA)
What a comeback this would be!
After suffering what we thought was a disastrous front wheel puncture while leading the men's cross-country mountain bike race, costing him roughly 26 seconds, reigning Olympic champion Pidcock (GBR) is right on Koretzky's (FRA) tail.
This is one heck of a finish to this dramatic race.
OH! And Pidcock has just put his foot to the floor and surged past Koretzky to take the lead! What a turnaround!
There's the bell - only one lap to go!
From the Louvre to the handball
These Germany fans brought quite the appropriate attire for their men's contest against Japan earlier today!
Germany won that contest 37-26, with Slovenia beating Croatia 31-29 in the next game.
Three-time world champions and Rio 2016 gold medallists Denmark are leading Egypt 28-23 with eight minutes to go over in Group B.

Snopp Dogg and Billie Jean King take in the tennis at Roland Garros
While we were giving you an update on that Djokovic - Nadal contest (the Serbian is now 3-0 up in the second set after breaking the Spaniard's serve), we forgot to mention that top seed Iga Swiatek (POL) won her afternoon match against Diane Parry in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.
We've also got star power in the stands, with the fascinating combo of Snoop Dogg and 39-time Grand Slam champion Billie Jean King discussing the action together.

Stunning!
World champion Jagger Eaton through to men's street final

Pidcock, Schurter going for second gold medals in men's mountain bike
Over at Élancourt Hill, both Great Britain's Tom Pidcock – the defending champion – and Rio 2016 gold medallist Nino Schurter of Switzerland are attempting to become just the second man to win two gold medals in the men's mountain bike cross-country race.
France's Julien Absalon is the only man to have done so, winning in 2004 and 2008.
Men's and women's singles matches round-up
Session 6 (men's and women's singles round of 64) has just concluded in the table tennis.
In the women's competition, defending gold medallist Chen Meng (CHN) is safely through after winning her match in four games. Her compatriot Fan Zhendong (CHN), who won silver in the men's event in Tokyo, also won his match in four games.

Meanwhile, one of the most eagerly anticipated tennis matches of the tournament is underway, and Novak Djokovic has dominated the first set against Rafael Nadal.
Nadal is clearly struggling with his right leg, heavily strapped, and is 5-0 down.

They faced pressure from hosts France, who recorded the lowest penalty total in yesterday's cross-country event (6.00). But the British trio of Rosalind Canter, Tom McEwen, and Laura Collett were magnificent in the jumping final (McEwen recorded zero penalties) to win a fifth Olympic gold medal in the event - the most in history.
