She beat the odds to make the start line here after surviving some life-threatening blood clots in 2017. Plus, Haven Shepherd was born in Vietnam. Her parents took their own lives by strapping bombs in a family suicide attempt. Haven somehow survived was adopted by a US family and started to smile for the first time in a swimming pool .
