Rafael Alba and Lee Dabin won gold medals on Sunday, September 4, the third and final day at the Paris 2022 Grand Prix taekwondo event at the Parc des sports.

Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallist Alba won the men's +80kg after beating Croatia's Ivan Sapina in the last round of their final. Alba landed a head kick and forced three Gam-jeoms (penalties) to top the podium. The Cuban had earlier edged out Rio 2016 gold medallist Cheick Sallah Cisse in the semi-finals that ended prematurely after the Ivorian conceded five Gam-jeoms and Alba was declared the winner.

South Korea's Dabin won her fourth Grand Prix event with a great display of talent and experience overcoming fellow Tokyo Olympic podium finisher Althea Laurin in the women's +67kg finals. She rallied back after Laurin had tied the rounds with a 15-5 round three win.

The Olympic silver medallist beat Turkey's Nafia Kus in the last four.
