The 2023/24 World Rugby Sevens Series, also known as SVNS, rolls into Hong Kong, China, for its sixth stop from 5-7 April.

New Zealand's women closed the gap on Australia in the overall standings to just four points, with a second-consecutive victory at the last stop in Los Angeles.

Michaela Blyde was on fire with 12 tries, including a hat-trick in the final against their Antipodean rivals. It will take something special to prevent the Black Ferns Sevens from securing their own hat-trick of wins.

Overall leaders Australia have not seen gold since the second round in Cape Town, and will be desperate to put that right, with free-scoring win Maddison Levi continuing to set the series alight with her electric pace and power.

The USA finally got on the podium in the last round with a bronze medal, with star player Ilona Maher ending the weekend with more carries than any other female player (29). The North Americans are now just 10 points behind France in third.

The women’s draw in Hong Kong will see a rematch between New Zealand and Olympic Games Paris 2024 hosts France in Pool A.

A rare blip from Argentina saw Antoine Dupont's France claim their first men's title in 19 years in LA. The Toulouse man's impact was clear, with his trademark defence and sniping runs.

Elsewhere, another bronze-medal finish saw Ireland sneak up to second overall, having earlier eliminated Los Pumas.

Also keep an eye out for a Tom Emery-inspired Great Britain who, despite a host of injuries, made it to the cup final in their last appearance, where they lost to France.

France face double Olympic champions Fiji in men’s Pool A, while current SVNS leaders Argentina take on Team GB and reigning SVNS champions New Zealand in Pool B.

As a reminder, the top eight placed teams based on cumulative series points after seven events will compete in the new ‘winner takes all’ Grand Final (31 May-2 June) in Madrid, where the women’s and men’s SVNS champions will be crowned.
