At her sixth World Aquatics Championships, Fukuoka 2023, American swim superstar Katie Ledecky has taken her overall tally to 26 medals at the long-course worlds.
She won silver in the 400m freestyle on Sunday (23 July) behind Australia's Ariarne Titmus before winning her 20th career Worlds gold medal with victory in the women's 1500m freestyle on Tuesday (25 July). A further gold in the women's 800m on Saturday (29 July) took her clear of Phelps' world championship title haul in individual races.

Ledecky is the current World Record holder in two events: the 800m freestyle and the 1500m freestyle.
She set the 800m WR at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, swimming 8:04.79.
Her 1500m record was set at the 2018 TYR Pro Swim Series in Indianapolis at 15:20.48.
Ledecky was FINA’s Swimmer of the Year in 2013 and has twice won FINA’s Best Swimming Performance of the Year (2015, 2016).
