The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) 2021 season resumed in August after a five-week-long break due to the Tokyo Olympics.
The second half of the regular season began on August 14, with Connecticut Sun leading the table followed by last season’s finalists Las Vegas Aces. Defending WNBA champions Seattle Storm are in the third spot.
Only the top eight from the 12 teams move to the playoffs at the end of the regular season. Fans can watch WNBA live streaming in India.
The Storm and Aces are the favourites again for the NBA Finals, which takes place after the playoffs.
The Seattle Storm roster features five players who represented their respective nations at the Tokyo Olympics. The legendary Sue Bird, Breanna Stewart and Jewell Loyd were part of the gold-winning Team USA while Ezi Magbegor and Stephanie Talbot represented Australia.
On the other hand, Las Vegas Aces boast last season’s MVP A’ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray, JiSu Park, Jackie Young and Kelsey Plum – all of whom featured at Tokyo 2020.
Along with the Aces and Storm, the Sun have emerged as title contenders this year.
An incredible home record (10-1) has seen Connecticut Sun take up the top position. And with only a handful of games remaining, the Sun will be looking to improve their form on the road (7-5) to confirm a top-two finish in the regular season.
The two highest-ranking teams get double byes in the playoffs and compete directly in the semi-finals.
Minnesota Lynx, currently fourth on the table, will also go into the playoffs on a high.
