It is time to decide the king of grass in the Wimbledon 2024 men’s singles final.

An intensely battled tournament over two weeks between the best tennis players in the world comes down to Sunday’s final showdown on 14 July. Carlos Alcaraz is one win away from back-to-back Wimbledon triumphs, but Novak Djokovic will be seeking to avenge last year's final defeat.

Wimbledon 2024 – Carlos Alcaraz earns the chance to defend his SW19 crown

From the start, it never seemed in doubt that Alcaraz would be back on Centre Court for a second straight Wimbledon final.

The Spaniard has battled his way through to the final showpiece, defeating Frances Tiafoe, Ugo Humbert and Tommy Paul on road to the final four. In the semi-final Alcaraz met a defiant Daniil Medvedev who took the first set, but that ignited the spark in ‘Carlitos’ as he roared back to stamp his ticket to the final.

Alcaraz could now become the first Spaniard to claim back-to-back Wimbledon titles, something not even Rafael Nadal could do. He is on the verge of a fourth Grand slam title before the age of 22.

Another Wimbledon crown would fill Alcaraz with confidence ahead of his maiden Olympic campaign, as he heads to Paris 2024 to compete in the men’s singles and the men’s doubles with Nadal.

Wimbledon 2024 – Novak Djokovic on verge of 25th career grand slam

One word to sum up Djokovic? Inevitable. Despite a season plagued by injury and no finals to his name, the Serbian star has fought back to return to the Wimbledon final for the sixth year in a row. That after recovering from knee surgery after his exit at Roland Garros.

Djokovic overcame 15th seed Holger Rune on the road to the final, then had a walkover into the semi-final when opponent Alex de Minaur had to pull out before the match. He defeated surprise package Lorenzo Musetti on Friday to progress to the final – a rematch of the 2023 edition.

He knows what is at stake - an eighth Wimbledon crown which would draw him level with Roger Federer, and a 25th career Grand Slam which would put him one clear of the record he currently shares with Margaret Court.

Another blockbuster final awaits with the Wimbledon Gentleman's Singles trophy at stake.
