Six of the world’s top nations in women's volleyball have won quota spots for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 via the FIVB Road to Paris Olympic Volleyball Qualifying Tournament (OQT).
The cities of Ningbo (People’s Republic of China), Tokyo (Japan), and Lodz (Poland), hosted the qualifying events from 16-24 September 2023 with the top two in each group of eight earning Paris berths.
After losing their opener to Czechia, the Dominican Republic won six consecutive matches to finish top in Ningbo.
Despite losing their final game to hosts China, Serbia took second place with their 3-0 victory over closest rivals Canada midway through the tournament proving decisive.
In Tokyo, Türkiye won seven matches out of seven to take top spot with hosts Japan and Brazil meeting in the final match of the competition to see who would join them in Paris.
It went all the way to a fifth game and it was Brazil who won it 15-10 to take second place.
The hosts were also involved in a nailbiting finale in Lodz as Poland faced Italy with only the winners earning a quota spot.
This time, the home fans went home happy as Poland won 3-1 to take second place behind Olympic champions USA.
As National Olympic Committees have the exclusive authority for the representation of their respective countries at the Olympic Games, athletes' participation at the Paris Games depends on their NOC selecting them to represent their delegation at Paris 2024.
