Tokyo 2020 Olympics track and field events start on July 30 and will run till August 8.

India will have a sizable athletics contingent participating in Tokyo 2020. Barring the 4x400 men’s and mixed relay race teams, there will be 16 individual Indian athletes in action over the 10 days of track and field events.

The two big names to keep an eye on will be Neeraj Chopra in men’s javelin throw and sprinter Dutee Chand, who has qualified for the women’s 100m and 200m races.

While this will be 23-year-old Neeraj Chopra’s Olympic debut, the youngster will be carrying India’s hopes on his broad shoulders.

Dutee Chand, meanwhile, will be participating in her second Summer Games. At Rio 2016, she failed to get past the 100m heats and hence will be looking for redemption at Tokyo.

India are yet to win an athletics medal at the Olympics.
