Determined to make this 33rd Olympiad one to remember, Paris 2024 is betting on urban sports in a festival-like open-air arena. And do you know what? It's all happening on the Place de la Concorde!

BMX freestyle, breaking, skateboarding and 3×3 basketball - four young disciplines in the history of the Games, to be discovered in the open air. And speaking of history, it's all to be found on the historic Place de la Concorde, which will host an arena based on an original concept called "Parc Urbain". The latter draws part of its strength from the contrast created by the meeting between the "old" (the 18th-century Place de la Concorde) and the "new", with the four urban sporting disciplines celebrating their first or second anniversary at these Games (first for breaking; second for 3x3 basketball, BMX freestyle and skateboarding).

A new concept

Spanning almost 170,000m², the Parc Urbain will be one of the beating hearts of the Paris 2024 Games. In keeping with the deconstructed and original spirit of urban sports and culture, the site will be organized not as a traditional stadium, but around four arenas, each hosting a different discipline. Surrounding them will be a variety of activity zones, offering a double immersive experience thanks to the many events on offer (DJ sets, sports demonstrations, artistic performances, athlete training, introductions to urban sports and arts). All this and more will make the Parc Urbain a unique site not to be missed!

More than a competition site

When you enter the Parc Urbain, you can :

  • Watch competition broadcasts on giant screens
  • Attend athlete training sessions prior to competitions
  • Take part in sports initiation sessions
  • Attend sports demonstrations
  • Take part in cultural and artistic activities combining urban culture and heritage
  • Take advantage of the on-site restoration services, but also relax in the "chill zones"

A place of 360-degree experiences and discoveries, the Parc Urbain will be the arena for these modern sports in a setting of their own: close to the public, festive and sensational.

Awaken your senses!

When you come to the Parc Urbain, you're guaranteed to experience much more than just sports. The screech of a basketball shoe, the clatter of a skateboard on the platform, the breath of a rider and his bike as they take off from the ramp, the rapid breathing of the B-boys and B-girls on the stage... Your ears will be on fire here! What's more, music will be omnipresent on this competition site, with DJs creating a festival-like atmosphere. Your taste buds won't be left out either, as for the first time in the history of the Games, 100% of the catering on offer will be vegetarian, using local, seasonal produce. And don't forget to get in touch with the many activities on offer throughout the fortnight. And last but not least, let's talk about the memorable visual experience awaiting you, with an unobstructed view of the Luxor Obelisk, the Assemblée nationale, the Petit and Grand Palais and even the Eiffel Tower, while athletes and artists put on top-flight performances.

In the air of time

The Urban Park reflects the commitments made by Paris 2024, which aims to organize an Olympiad in harmony with the challenges of our time. To this end, choices favoring sobriety and eco-responsibility have been made:

  • Wood is used everywhere, and comes from sustainably managed French forests. It is used here in a variety of forms: cubes, tents, partitions, barriers, etc.
  • Use of reusable carpeting
  • To avoid the production of concrete, ballast is rented in its entirety. A first in the history of the Games
  • The facilities on this site will be temporary, bringing together and pooling the resources of four sports in a single location. Set-up and supply operations will be facilitated by this pooling of resources.

Prenez rendez-vous avec les Jeux

For the first time in the history of the Games, a single venue will bring together all urban sports, in an arena that can accommodate up to 25,000 people a day! At the crossroads of the Tuileries Gardens and the Champs-Elysées, it was hard to think of a better way to highlight Paris's architectural heritage while hosting sports with an artistic and innovative DNA.
