Adverse conditions did little to dint Tess Ledeux and Colby Stevenson as they got their 2024/25 Freeski Slopestyle World Cup seasons off to winning starts in Stubai, Austria on Saturday (23 November).
Bad weather meant results for the season opener were determined by qualification leaving athletes just two runs to stake the podium claims.
In the women's event, France's Ledeux took the spoils with her 87.00 second run score. It was enough to overtake Switzerland's Mathilde Gremaud, who had been lying first with 85.00 with her opening run. The reigning slopestyle Olympic champion, however, opted not to drop in for a second run leaving the door open be overtaken. Sarah Hoefflin rounded off the podium in third with her improved second-run effort of 82.25.
Victory today marks Ledeux's 12th World Cup win.
In the men's competition, Beijing 2022 Big Air silver medallist Stevenson did enough on his second run to take the win over Swiss star Andri Ragettli.
Ragettli set the bar with his 91.00 opening run but could not improve with his second handing the U.S. skier the victory. Norway's Tormod Frostad took third with a 90.00.
