Surfing: How to watch and follow competition at Tokyo 2020 with John John v Kolohe in heats

Monday sees some epic knockout heats at the inaugural surfing competition at Tsurigasaki Surfing Beach. Here are the key things to know about following the eight women and eight men's heats taking place at the Olympics in 2021.

Surfing is one of five sports debuting at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games and it's already making waves.

Monday (26th July) is due to see competition heat up, at the start of the knockout stage of the competition.

That's after four surfers across the men and women's events were eliminated at the conclusion of round two on Sunday.

There are several tantalising heats to keep an eye out in round three, as the surfers hit the waves again at Tsurigasaki Beach, weather allowing.

It's an all Team USA affair in heat two of the men's competition. Two-time world champion John John Florence will face off against compatriot Kolohe Andino in what is guaranteed to be a dramatic showdown at 12:24pm JST (23:24 Sunday night on the U.S. east coast, 17:24 Sunday in Honolulu).

In the women's competition, look out for Australian star Sally Fizgibbons - the medal favourite will be hoping to continue her fine form in her sport's Olympic debut.
