Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Rayssa Leal again topped the women's standings after the preliminaries on the second leg of the 2022 Street League Skateboarding (SLS) tour in Seattle on Saturday (14 August).

The 14-year-old Brazilian did the same in Jacksonville, Florida last month, on the first leg of four, and went on to claim the win.

Eight skaters advanced to the final set to take place on Sunday.

If Leal is to repeat her Florida feat, she’ll need to stay ahead of compatriot Brazilian and 2021 Super Crown champion Pamela Rosa - who qualified in second - and the Japanese trio of World Street Skateboard Rome winner Nakayama Funa, Olympic champion Nishiya Momiji and Oda Yumeka.

Poe Pinson is again the only American female skater who made the final (in seventh) and Roos Zwetsloot (sixth) will be joined in the final this time by Dutch countrywoman Keet Oldenbeuving (eighth).

Huston injured so compatriot Jordan takes up the US baton

Skateboarding superstar Nyjah Huston, fifth in Jacksonville, was missing from the men’s event having torn his ACL days before the competition began.

Much love was sent his way from his fellow skaters with comments such as “Nothing but great health wishes mentally & physically sent your way king!” from Dashawn Jordan, and “Speed recovery brotha, you got this” from Gustavo Ribeiro.

Nevertheless, there was a final to reach and Huston’s compatriot Jordan claimed top spot heading into the showdown on Sunday with fellow Americans Chris Joslin and Braden Hoban following suit in third and seventh, respectively.

Portugal’s Ribeiro was fourth to book his spot in the final.

Jacksonville winner, Japan's Olympic champion Horigome Yuto, qualified in second with his countryman Shirai Sora qualifying fifth.

France’s Vincent Milou and Canada’s Ryan Decenzo complete the eight qualifiers.
