Amber Hill claims Paris 2024 Olympic quota spot for Great Britain by winning 2022 European Championships Shotgun title in women's skeet

Britain and Germany claim first two skeet Olympic quota spots on offer in the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifier as Europe’s stars shoot for continental glory in Larnaca, Cyprus, live on Olympic Channel. Watch highlights here.

Amber Hill secured Great Britain a quota spot for women’s skeet shooting at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, after she won the title at the 2022 European Championships in Shotgun.

The 25 year-old won gold at the Larnaca Olympic Shooting Range in Cyprus on Friday (9 September), her eighth continental crown.

Hill beat Nadine Messerschmidt, who missed her last shot and picked up silver. The 28-year-old German also claims the second of the two quota spots available for Paris 2024 in the event.

Danka Bartekova of Slovakia won the bronze.

Diana Bacosi finished fourth. The Olympic gold medallist from Rio 2016, and silver medallist from Tokyo 2020 in 2021 finished was eliminated first in the medal match. Italy’s Bacosi missed just one shot in the first 20 targets in the final, but was the lowest ranked qualifier from the ranking match earlier on Friday.

Paris 2024 automatic berths and ranking points decided in Larnaca

Four shooting quota places for Paris 2024 are awarded during the skeet competitions on Friday, with two available for the women’s skeet individual events.

Two men's berths will be decided later on Friday, live on Olympic Channel with streaming via Olympics.com and official Olympic Games apps for mobile and connected devices.

Ranking points attained within the championship are also valid for the 2022 World Ranking, the Qualification Ranking for Paris 2024 Olympic Games (QROG), and the Qualification Ranking for the 2023 European Games (QREG).

Sunday 11 September

  • 16:30-17:30: Skeet women’s team final
  • 17:40-18:40: Skeet men’s team final

The skeet events follow the Trap competition, which saw Italy and Great Britain seal Olympic qualification berths in the women's event, while Czech Republic and Sweden took the spots available for the men's event.
