A roaring crowd of over 40,000 supporters were on hand to welcome home the Serbia men’s basketball team from Paris 2024.

The bronze medal winners were greeted by an adoring crowd in front of the Belgrade City Hall, who were there to celebrate them and other medallists from the Games.

Serbia’s star man, Nikola Jokić was met with chants of ‘MVP, MVP, MVP’ once he stepped on the balcony.

A tense bronze match with 2023 World Cup winners Germany ended 93-83 in favour of Serbia, who picked up their third Olympic medal in this discipline.

They had previously won silver in 1996 and 2016.

It wasn’t just the players feeling the love, either.

Head coach Svetislav ‘Kari’ Pesic was serenaded by fans, who sang “Kari’s on fire”, a song adopted by the team too.

It is the Serbian’s first Olympic medal as coach, coming just under three years after taking charge.
