Ryan Crouser on Sha'Carri Richardson as Olympic flight companion for Paris: 'She's a firecracker'
Ryan Crouser says Sha'Carri Richardson would be the perfect travel mate for their (hopefully) upcoming trip to next month's Olympic Games Paris 2024.
The two-time and reigning Olympic champion in shot put, Crouser said he'd like to sit next to Richardson on their flight from the U.S. to Paris because Sha'Carri is "a firecracker," he said in a Team USA social media post Wednesday (12 June).
"She's a firecracker, she's entertaining," said Crouser, who is also the world record holder in the shot put.
But the Oregon native had ulterior motives for the trans-Atlantic choice, too: "She doesn't take up a ton of space," he said, laughing. "So I can kind of lean into her seat and not feel bad about it."
Crouser is 201cm (6 foot 7) and 145kgs (320 pounds). Richardson stands just 155cm (5 foot 1).
Both athletes head to the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for track and field next week (21 June) in Eugene, Oregon, where they'll look to solidify their Paris spots for Team USA.
