The world’s best 288 men’s and women’s rugby sevens players will compete at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, from 24-30 July.

Twenty-four teams will lock horns in the iconic Stade de France in their respective tournaments, 12 each for the men's and women's competitions.

For the first time, rugby sevens will commence two days before the Opening Ceremony with the men's preliminary and quarter-final stages.

Fiji**,** who have won both men's Olympic titles since the sport made its debut at Rio 2016, will be going for a golden hat-trick, but will have to be at their best to stop hosts France, who won the 2024 World Rugby Sevens Series Grand Final in June.

On the women's side, reigning Olympic champions New Zealand will be desperate to settle a score with Rio 2016 champs Australia, who won the world series in June, beating hosts France in the final.

Below, we take a closer look at the stars to watch out for in Paris, a full schedule, and how to watch the action.

Rugby sevens stars to watch at Paris 2024 Olympics

There is no bigger name in rugby sevens right now is Antoine Dupont.

The French 15's star made a seismic impact after switching to sevens this year, helping the team to its first World Series title in 19 years before landing the Grand Final trophy in Madrid. After a disappointing early exit at the 2023 Rugby World Cup on home soil, an Olympic gold medal could certainly provide redemption.

Elsewhere in the men's game, electric Irishman Terry Kennedy has once again been the most destructive winger in the world this year, while Argentina have a flyer of their own that is capable of turning matches single-handedly in former World Sevens Player of the year Marcos Moneta.

Finally, keep an eye on Moneta's robust Pumas teammate, and 2023 World Sevens Player of the Year, Rodrigo Isgro - a behemoth in both offence and defence.

The women's competition will feature many legends of the game, beginning with Australia's skipper Charlotte Caslick. The evergreen playmaker, who helped the team to gold in 2016, combines superb vision in attack with relentless aggression in defence.

The Aussie's rivals will also need to keep an eye on Caslick's teammate, Maddison Levi, who has established herself as one of the most destructive finishers in the game with a record-breaking 69 tries this season.

Central to New Zealand's resurgence this season was the form of flying winger Michaela Blyde. The 2017 and 2018 World Player of the Year possesses the ability to unlock the toughest of defences with her speed, and has scored in excess of 200 tries on the World Sevens Series.
