The Prime Volleyball League 2023 gets underway with defending champions Kolkata Thunderbolts taking on home team Bengaluru Torpedoes at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday.
A total of eight teams will participate in PVL 2023, the second edition of India’s top franchise-based volleyball league. Matches will be live streamed.

The Prime Volleyball League 2023 winner will qualify for the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship 2023 to be held in India from December 6 to 10 this year.
As many as 31 matches are scheduled to be played in PVL 2023. Each team will first play the other seven teams in a single round-robin format. The top four teams at the end of the league stage will qualify for the semi-finals. The PVL 2023 final will be played on March 5.
Bengaluru’s Koramangala Indoor Stadium will host the first 10 matches till February 12. The venue for the next 10 matches will be GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad. The final leg of PVL 2023, including the semi-finals and final, will be held at Regional Sports Centre in Kochi.
PVL matches will feature 15-point sets instead of the regular 25 points. A bonus card is also available to teams in every set, which offers a chance to win two points instead of one, but also carries the risk of losing two points.
Mumbai Meteors, who will be making their debut this season, have an impressive line-up in Brandon Greenway (USA), Hiroshi Centelles (Cuba), and Indian volleyball team’s Karthik A, Amit Gulia and Hardeep Singh.
Some of the other notable volleyball stars in action at PVL 2023 will be Venezuelan Olympian Jose Verdi (Kolkata Thunderbolts), Peru national team captain Eduardo Romay (Kochi Blue Spikers) and Australian national team player Trent O’Dea (Hyderabad Black Hawks).
Vinit Kumar (Kolkata Thunderbolts), Jerome Vinith (Calicut Heroes), Akhin G S (Chennai Blitz) and Ranjit Singh (Hyderabad Black Hawks) will be among the top Indian stars to watch out for in PVL 2023.
