The women's semi-finals are set for the World Skateboarding Pro Tour 2023 stop in San Juan, Argentina, with 16 park skateboarders scheduled to compete on Saturday (27 May).

The Pro Tour event is a pivotal stop as skaters look to punch their ticket to Paris 2024 via ranking points that will qualify them for the upcoming Olympic Summer Games.

Recently-crowned world champion Sky Brown, the No.1 seed in San Juan, soared to the top of the rankings, earning a 71.00 in her opening run. In her second round, she outdid herself, earning a score of 72.33. She would not be caught.

Some three points behind her was Brazil's Yndiara Asp at 69.000, with compatriots Raicca Oliveira (68.5) and Dora Pereira (68.2) finishing third and fourth, respectively. Ruby Trew of Australia rounded out the top five with a score of 67.72.

Japan's Hiraki Kokona, who took silver at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in 2021, advanced in eighth place (66.70), while Australian Arisa Trew (no relation), who was the top qualifier to the quarters, advanced to the semis in 11th place.

Meanwhile, Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Yosozumi Sakura couldn't find her rhythm, finishing 30th out of 32 competitors after earning scores of 12.06, 15.33 and 18.00 across her three runs.

Skaters' seedings are based on their Olympic World Skate Ranking (OWSR). For skaters in the quarters onward, it will be the best of three 45-second runs, or until there is a fall, and the best score will be counted.

A total of 179 Olympic hopefuls arrived in San Juan this week, all aiming to claim as many ranking points as they can. The men's quarterfinal round is scheduled for Saturday (26 May).

In the men's event, world champ Jagger Eaton and Olympic gold medallist Keegan Palmer are also set to compete in a field that is brimming with well-known talents. Gavin Bottger was the top scorer in the men's qualifying round.

The remaining schedule for the event is below.
