Faith Kipyegon leads the 1500m field at the 2024 Paris Diamond League.

After the month-long break for the Olympic track and field athletics trials and selection events, the Diamond League will resume action on Sunday, 7 July with the Meeting de Paris, just two weeks before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

At least five Olympic champions and six world gold medallists will be at the Charléty Stadium in Paris for Meeting de Paris, the eighth stop of the top-level Diamond League series, which should be a good build-up ahead of the Olympics.

Fresh from incredible runs at last month’s Kenyan Olympic Trials, Faith Kipyegon will make her 2024 Diamond League debut at the stadium where she broke the 5000m world record last year.

Also at Charléty, will be the world pole vault record holder Armand Mondo Duplantis, and three other Tokyo Olympic gold medallists: long jumper Malaika Mihambo, Valarie Allman the discus star, and Polish hammer thrower Wojciech Nowicki.

The schedule will start earlier than usual at 14:00 local time, due to the French parliamentary elections.

Find out all you need to know about the who, what, and where of the 2024 Paris Diamond League below.

When and where is the Paris Diamond League 2024

The Paris Diamond League will take place on Sunday, 7 July 2024 in the 20,000-seater Stade Charléty in Paris, France.

The main programme of the Meeting de Paris begins at 14:35 local time with the women's high jump and concludes with the women’s 1500m.

Stars to watch at the Paris Diamond League 2024

Faith Kipyegon leads the women's 1500m field and is back on track after a brilliant double at the Kenya Olympic Trials on 15 June. The two-time Olympic champion blitzed to the fastest time ever on Kenyan soil in her first weekend of racing this year.

Kipyegon, the four-time world gold medallist, knows the Charléty track well. That’s where she set the women's 5000m world record in 2023.

The 30-year-old intends to run both the 1500m and 5000m at the Olympics, and this will be a good tune-up for her double target. She will be up against the newly crowned European 1500m champion, Ireland’s Ciara Mageean.

World record holder Mondo Duplantis will also be in action as he looks forward to a return to Paris later this month for the Games that are now just over three weeks away. The Olympic and two-time pole vault would champion clinched his third European title in Rome last month.

And as usual, whenever he lines up to compete, there will be expectations of a perfect clearance from the Swede who has already soared to eight world records.

The last was the standout 6.24 mark he cleared at the first stop of the 2024 Diamond League meeting in Xiamen. He will be up against home favourites Renaud Lavillenie and Thibaut Collet.

German long jumper Mihambo is also warming up for her title defence at the Olympics. She returned to the pit early this season after recovering from a torn muscle fibre that kept her out of competition for most of last year.

Marileidy Paulino, the Dominican and 400m world champion, is also on the entries list for the Paris Diamond League.

The women’s 3000m steeplechase should be an interesting one to watch, pitting the fastest runner in the event Kenya’s Beatrice Chepkoech against her former compatriot Winfred Yavi, who won the world title for Bahrain in Budapest. Recently crowned European champion French woman Alice Finot will also line up for the steeplechase race.

Alison dos Santos, the Brazilian Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist, will look to add to his recent run of good form in the Diamond League. He has been unbeaten in three starts in the series.
