Paris 2024 volleyball: Women’s final preview, schedule and how to watch
On the final day of an eventful Olympic Games Paris 2024, the women’s volleyball teams of the United States and Italy will take the floor of South Paris Arena looking to capture gold in the fleeting moments of another memorable Games.
Italy has been nearly flawless on their path to the gold medal match, only dropping a single set so far at Paris 2024, which came during their first game of group play against the Dominican Republic. Since then, Italy has dominated every team in their path, including Serbia in the quarter-finals and Türkiye in the semi-finals.
On the other hand, Team USA has been tested a few times on their path to the finals, going to five sets three times in five matches. In fact, the Americans dropped their first group-stage game against the People’s Republic of China and have won every game since. In the quarter-finals, the Americans cruised past Poland in straight sets before winning a competitive match against Brazil 3-2 in five sets.
Italy has already secured its first medal in women’s volleyball but is aiming to make the first one golden. The United States has six medals all-time in women’s volleyball, but just a single gold. The Americans will look to change that on Sunday, 11 August against a dangerous Italian squad.

Volleyball stars to watch during Paris 2024 Olympics women’s final
Andrea Drews has been Team USA’s leading scorer to this point of the tournament, scoring 91 points in five games. Her biggest scoring output came in the Americans’ group-stage loss, where she totaled 29 points, including three off of blocks.
Paola Ogechi Egonu has set the pace for Italy, ranking fifth in the entire Games in scoring with 88 points. She has also been one of the best servers in the tournament, recording seven aces to this point.
Kathryn Plummer is not far behind Egonu, recording six aces thus far at Paris 2024. She is Team USA’s second leading scorer at 70 points including nine off of blocks.
