The grand final of the Wheelchair Rugby tournament took place this Monday evening at the Arena Champ-de-Mars. Pitting Japan against the United States, two nations who had met in the group stage, the match kept the public on the edge of their seats, with the suspense only dissipating in the final quarter. With the Japanese leading by three points, they managed to extend their lead and eventually won 48-41. Yukinobu Ike scored 16 tries in all.

Japan became Paralympic Wheelchair Rugby champions for the first time in its history, after winning bronze in 2016 and 2020. The Americans, on the other hand, lost in the Paralympic final... for the third time in a row.
