Paris 2024 Paralympics: India aim to build on Tokyo medal haul - where to watch live streaming

A total of 84 Indian para athletes will compete at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, scheduled from August 28 to September 9 in France. It is India’s largest contingent in Paralympic history.

Live streaming for all the 549 events from the Paris 2024 Paralympics will be available for free in India.

India will compete in 12 of the 22 sports at Paris 2024, including debuts in para cycling, para judo and para rowing.

The Paralympic Games will officially get underway on August 28 with the Opening Ceremony in Paris. Sumit Antil and Bhagyashri Jadhav will serve as India’s flag-bearers.

India’s campaign will begin a day later in para badminton, where Krishna Nagar will start his men’s singles title defence. Avani Lekhara and Manish Narwal, both gold medallists at Tokyo 2020, are also set to take aim in para shooting.

Para archery, para cycling, para taekwondo, para swimming and para table tennis events will also see Indians in action from August 29.

Para athletics, meanwhile, kicks off on August 30, where 38 Indian athletes will participate. The spotlight will be on javelin thrower Sumit Antil, the Tokyo 2020 gold medallist in the F64 category and a world record-holder.

Bhavina Patel, India’s first Paralympics medallist in table tennis, will play in the women’s singles event and partner Sonalben Patel in the women’s doubles category.

Three years ago, India also won their first medal in para archery at the Summer Games. Harvinder Singh secured bronze in the men’s individual recurve open archery competition in Tokyo.

Starting September 4, Parmjeet Kumar, Ashok, Sakina Khatun and Kasthuri Rajamani will contest for India’s first podium in para powerlifting since Athens 2004.

Indian judokas Kapil Parmar and Kokila make their Paralympic debuts on September 5. The three-member para canoe team are the last set of Indian athletes to take the Paris 2024 stage when they begin racing on September 6.

The Paris 2024 Paralympics will conclude on September 9 with the Closing Ceremony.

India have won 31 medals from the previous 11 editions of the Paralympic Games. Tokyo 2020 produced India’s most successful campaign to date with the athletes returning with 19 medals - five gold, eight silver and six bronze.

Live streaming of the Paris 2024 Paralympics in India will be available on Olympics.com. The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will not be telecast live on any TV channel in India. However, select highlights will be available on the Sports18 TV channel.
