Paris 2024 Paralympics medal tally: Australian winners from every sport - full list and table
Australia concluded the Paris 2024 Paralympics with a haul of 63 medals, comprising 18 golds, 17 silvers, and 28 bronzes.
The Games, which began with the Opening Ceremony on August 28 and concluded with the Closing Ceremony on September 8, saw Australia field 158 para athletes across 17 sports.
Para athletics, represented by 34 athletes, and para swimming, with a 30-member team, were the most strongly represented sports for Australia at the Paralympic Games in Paris. Historically, these two sports have also been Australia's most successful at the Paralympics.
At the Paris 2024 Paralympics, athletics and swimming contributed the most to Australia's medal haul, with 11 and 27 medals, respectively. Swimming led the way with six golds, while track cycling and athletics each secured three gold medals. Additionally, Australia claimed two gold medals in table tennis.
Timothy Hodge, Alexa Leary, Lauren Parker and Callum Simpson were Australia’s most successful athletes at the Paris 2024 Paralympics with two gold medals and a silver each.
Australians broke a slew of records at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.
In athletics, James Turner delivered an outstanding performance, breaking two records. He set new benchmarks by winning the men’s 100m T36 with a Paralympic record of 11.85 seconds and the 400m T36 in a world record time of 51.54 seconds.
Vanessa Low also made history, setting a world record in the women’s long jump T61 with a leap of 5.45m, earning her the gold medal.
Rheed McCracken's bronze in the 800m T34 marked his achievement of winning medals at four consecutive Paralympic Games.
In para track cycling, Korey Boddington set a new Paralympic record in the men’s C4 1000m time trial, clocking 1:02.021 during the qualifying round, while Emily Petricola smashed the world record with a time of 3:35.856 in the women’s C4 3000m individual pursuit qualification. Both cyclists went on to secure gold in their respective finals.
The Australian swim team continued the record-breaking spree, setting a new Paralympic record in the mixed 4x100m medley relay 34 points event, clinching the gold. Timothy Hodge also struck gold in the men’s 200m individual medley SM9, posting a Paralympic record time of 2:13.31.
Benjamin Hance broke the world record in the men's 100m backstroke S14, clocking 56.52s in the heats. The Australian later won the gold in the event.
Alexa Leary dazzled in the pool, winning gold in the women’s 100m freestyle S9 with a world record-breaking time of 59.53 seconds in the final.
In rowing, the duo of Nikki Ayers and Jed Altschwager set a Paralympic best in the PR3 mixed doubles sculls heats with a time of 7:11.30. The pair later won gold in the event.
At the preceding Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, Australia secured 80 medals, including 21 golds. Their best performance, however, remains at the Sydney 2000 Paralympics, where they topped the medal tally with 149 medals: 63 golds, 39 silvers, and 47 bronzes.
Australia has participated in every Paralympic Games since the event's inception in 1960.
