A superstar in Para sports in France, Para triathlete Alexis Hanquinquant, who was the flag bearer for the French delegation at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games last Wednesday, competed in the most important race of his career this Monday in the early afternoon.

In the majestic setting of downtown Paris, he did not disappoint, dominating the competition in his PTS4 category. Leading by the end of the 750m swim, he only increased his lead during the 20km cycling segment before masterfully managing the 5km run. Finally, he crossed the finish line as a national hero, flag in hand. Alexis Hanquinquant's record is now more than impressive, with two Paralympic titles, six World Championships, and six European Championships.

While the French team had hoped for a resounding success in this competition, Alexis Hanquinquant was ultimately joined on the podium by Britain's Carson Clough and Spain's Nil Riudavets Victory. Pierre-Antoine Bael had to settle for fourth place, while Grégoire Berthon finished fifth.

Finally, in the Women's PTS4 category, Britain's Megan Richter won her first Paralympic gold medal. Spain's Marta Frances Gomez and her compatriot Hannah Moore joined her on the podium, ahead of the French athletes Camille Sénéclauze and Elise Marc.
