With the ceremony on the evening of Sunday 8 September, the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games came to an official and definitive close. Here's a look back at this extraordinary event in a few figures.

In total, between the Olympic and Paralympic competitions, no fewer than 92 world records have been broken by athletes or Para athletes involved in Paris 2024. In detail, there were 12 during the Olympic Games and 80 during the Paralympic period. More broadly, 27 Olympic records and 120 Paralympic records were also broken.

The Paris 2024 Games were an opportunity for several countries, 7, to win their first medals.At the Olympic Games, Dominica, with triple jumper Thea LaFond, Saint Lucia, with sprinter Julien Alfred, Albania and Cabo Verde experienced this immense joy, while it was Mauritius, Moldova and Nepal that collected Paralympic medals for the first time.
Last but not least, the Refugee Olympic Team and the Refugee Paralympic Team also took to the podium for the first time.

In all, 12 million tickets have been sold by the organisers. Of these, 9.5 were for the Olympic Games - an all-time record for such an event - and 2.5 for the Paralympic Games.

It wasn't just in the arenas, stadiums and venues that the Paris 2024 Games attracted large crowds. Celebration sites such as the Terrasse des Jeux, the Parc George-Valbon, Club France and all the other 2024 Clubs were full to capacity, with a total of 8 million visitors over the two Olympic and Paralympic competitions.

During the Olympic fortnight and the Paralympic fortnight, almost 15,000 athletes and Para athletes (14,900 to be precise) flocked to Paris 2024. There were 4,400 Paralympic athletes and 10,500 Olympic athletes.

Number of venues. To host the competitions at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Organising Committee had to make a large number of sports venues available to athletes and para-athletes. 39 were used during the Olympic Games (95% were already in existence), including the iconic Eiffel Tower Stadium, Grand Palais and Invalides. During the Paralympics, 17 were used. Incidentally, almost all of these were already in use at the Olympic Games, with the exception of the para-cycling road circuit in Clichy-sous-Bois and the start of the marathon in La Courneuve.

The number of spectators who attended competitions on the busiest Olympic day of the competition. This was on 2 August. For the Paralympic events, the busiest day was 31 August, when 270,000 tickets were used.
