Paris 2024 Olympics road cycling, Australia schedule: Six Aussie cyclists look to ace historic French course
A six-member Australian road cycling team will be in action at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The individual time trial events will start from the Invalides and finish on the Pont Alexandre III Bridge on July 27 and 28. The road races will start from Pont d’Iéna bridge (opposite the Eiffel Tower) and finish at Trocadéro. The road races are scheduled on August 3 and August 4.
The Australian cycling team, led by four-time Tour de France stage winner Michael Matthews, includes three men and as many women.

- Men: Michael Matthews (road race), Simon Clarke (road race), Lucas Plapp (road race, individual time trial)
Three-time World Championships medallist Matthews, Ruby Roseman-Gannon and Lauretta Hanson will make their Olympic debuts in Paris.
Matthews finished second at Milan-San Remo and secured two top-10 finishes during the Spring Classics and also competed at this year’s Tour de France.
Grace Brown, who won silver medals at the World Championship time trial events in 2022 and 2023, has been selected for her second Summer Olympic Games along with Simon Clarke and Lucas Plapp.
The road cycling route will cover iconic monuments and locations such as the Palace of Versailles, the Chevreuse Valley, the Bois de Vincennes, the Invalides and the Eiffel Tower. The men will take on a 273km-long course while the women will race a distance of 158km.
It is for the first time in the history of the Olympics that there will be equal men’s and women’s representation in road race cycling events.
For Australia, Lucas Plapp will compete in the men’s individual time trial while Grace Brown is in the women’s time trial entry list.
