Australia’s Kaylee McKeown, the defending champion in women’s 100m and 200m backstroke events, will begin her campaign at the Paris 2024 Olympics swimming competition on July 29.

McKeown made her debut at the Olympics at Tokyo 2020 shortly after breaking the world record in the national trials in women’s 100m backstroke. She went on to become the first Australian woman to win a gold medal in a backstroke event at the Summer Games and went on to break the Olympic record in the event.

Kaylee McKeown won two more gold medals in Tokyo - women’s 200m backstroke and women’s 4x100m medley relay.

At just 23, McKeown is already one of Australia’s most decorated Olympians and once again she will be headlining the Dolphins’ charge in three individual events in Paris.

Kaylee McKeown will be competing in the women’s 100m backstroke, women’s 200m backstroke and the women’s 200m individual medley swimming events at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

McKeown, who was voted as the Best Female Swimmer 2023 by World Aquatics, will be the favourite in the 100m backstroke and 200m backstroke events. She will face tough competition from the USA’s Regan Smith, who recently broke her 100m backstroke world record.

The Queensland-born swimmer will also compete in women’s individual 200m medley and may take part in relay events as well.

The Dolphins have announced a 41-member team for the upcoming showpiece in Paris. All the swimming competitions will take place at the Paris La Defense Arena.
