After nearly three weeks of unforgettable sporting action, the curtains are set to fall on the Paris 2024 Olympics with the Closing Ceremony at Stade de France in the early hours of Monday, August 12 (IST).

The Paris 2024 Olympics Closing Ceremony will start at 12:30 AM IST on Monday. Live streaming and telecast will be available in India.

In contrast to the Opening Ceremony held on the River Seine, the Olympics Closing Ceremony will be a more traditional affair, taking place inside a packed Stade de France with 80,000 spectators. The Closing Ceremony will celebrate the achievements of the athletes and the success of the host city, Paris.

Two-time Olympic medallists PR Sreejesh and Manu Bhaker have been chosen as the Indian flag-bearers for the Parade of Nations during the ceremony.

Sreejesh, dubbed the ‘Wall of India,’ retired from hockey on a high note with India’s bronze medal win at these Games. India secured a 2-1 victory against Spain in the bronze medal match, with Sreejesh delivering a stellar performance by thwarting several Spanish attempts. His brilliant saves in the quarter-finals shoot-out against Great Britain helped the 10-men Indian team stay alive.

Manu Bhaker made history by becoming the first Indian athlete in the history of independent India to win two medals in a single edition of the Games. She claimed a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol shooting event and later added another bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event with Sarabjot Singh.

The Closing Ceremony will also feature the ceremonial extinguishing of the Olympic Flame and the transfer of the Olympic Flag to the Los Angeles 2028 Organising Committee, marking the transition to the next Summer Games.

Thomas Jolly, a French theatre director and actor, is the artistic director overseeing the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic ceremonies.

The artistic performances at the Closing Ceremony are expected to showcase the cultures of both France – the host nation of the ongoing Summer Games – and the USA – the country which will host the next Olympics in 2028.

The name given to the Closing Ceremony is 'Records'. The rest of the Closing Ceremony details have been a well-guarded secret. However, part of the show will take place in the air, accompanied by lighting effects. Several celebrities are expected to perform.
