Paris 2024 Olympics BMX racing cycling, Australia schedule: Olympian Lauren Reynolds headlines action
A three-member Australian BMX racing cycling team will compete in the Paris 2024 Olympics with events scheduled on August 2 and 3.
Three-time Olympian Lauren Reynolds headlines the Aussie BMX racing cycling squad which also includes two-time World Cup gold medallist Saya Sakakibara and 2024 World Cup gold medallist Izaac Kennedy.
Reynolds, who made her Olympic debut at London 2012, made a mark at Tokyo 2020 after matching Australia’s best-ever result in women’s Olympic BMX racing when she placed fifth in the final. She finished 15th overall at London 2012 and 11th at Rio 2016.
Meanwhile, 23-year-old Izaac Kennedy will be making his Olympic debut in Paris. With two second-place finishes in Tulsa, USA, Kennedy clinched the overall men’s 2024 UCI BMX Racing World Cup title.
The 24-year-old Saya Sakakibara will be appearing in her second Olympics after making her debut at Tokyo 2020. The two-time World Cup gold medallist suffered a crash in the semi-finals in Japan.
Sakakibara won the 2023 UCI BMX Racing World Cup title before successfully defending it in 2024.
