During the rugby sevens events organised since the launch of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the athletes have regularly rung the Bell located on the edge of the Stade de France pitch. For the rest of the Olympic Games and then the Paralympic Games, this tradition will continue during the athletics and Para athletics events.

It is one of the attractions at the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Located at the edge of the Stade de France pitch, a Bell has been rung several times since the start of the Games during the rugby sevens, which finished on Tuesday evening. Antoine Dupont's French team, crowned Queen of Olympus, came to celebrate their triumph around the Bell, which was decorated in purple in the colours of Paris 2024.

With the Paris 2024 Olympic Bell, "a part of the Games and the Olympic spirit will remain in Notre-Dame for life"

Made in Normandy, at the Fonderie Cornille Havard in Villedieu-les-Poêles-Rouffigny (Manche), it is in fact part of the refurbishment of Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral. Engraved with the emblem of Paris 2024, it will be delivered to the cathedral after the Games, to be suspended in one of its towers. In this way, the sound of Olympic victory will be heard throughout the city for decades to come.

"In a way, Paris 2024 is helping to rebuild Notre-Dame. A part of the Games and the Olympic spirit will remain in Notre-Dame for life", confirms Pierre-André Lacout, Cluster Manager at the Stade de France.

Adopted by athletes and spectators alike, to the point where it has become an essential photo sport at rugby sevens tournaments, the Bell at the Stade de France will continue to be rung during the athletics events starting this Friday, followed by the Para athletics events at the Paralympic Games.
