A 75-member Australian athletics team will be in action at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The contingent, featuring 41 women and 34 men, will compete in 39 medal events.

Athletics events at the Paris 2024 Olympics will be held from August 1 to 11. Track and field events are scheduled between August 2 and 10, race walking on August 1 and 7 and the marathon events on August 10 and 11.

The size of Australia's athletics squad for Paris 2024 is the country's largest in history.

The squad includes three medallists from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Silver medallist high jumper Nicola Olyslagers and decathlon bronze winner Ash Moloney will return for their second Olympic Summer Games.

Kelsey-Lee Barber, who won the women’s javelin throw bronze medal at Tokyo 2020, meanwhile, will compete at her third successive Games.

The 34-year-old marathon runner Genevieve Gregson and javelin thrower Kathryn Mitchell will make their fourth successive Olympic appearance. The squad also includes 34 Olympic debutants, including rising sprinter Torrie Lewis.

Reigning women’s pole vault world champion Nina Kennedy, world championship bronze medallists Kurtis Marschall (women’s pole vault) and women’s javelin thrower Mackenzie Little are also part of the star-studded Australian squad.

Jessica Hull, who has shattered Australia’s women’s 1500m national record twice in the last two months, will also be in focus at Paris 2024 alongside reigning men’s discus throw Diamond League champion Matthew Denny.

The Paris Olympics will introduce repechage rounds for individual track events from 200m to 1500m in distance, including the hurdles.

The track and field events at Paris 2024 will be held at the Stade de France while race walking at Trocadero. The marathon events will start at Hotel de Ville and end at Invalides.

Athletics has also been Australia’s second-most productive Olympic sport after swimming. The Australian athletics team boasts 69 Olympic medals (19 gold, 26 silvers and 24 bronze) since the modern Games began with Athens 1896.
