Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic emblem unveiled
The design for the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics has been revealed: Meet Marianne, the face of the French Games.
The emblem for the Paris 2024 Olympics is live!
The design for the Games in France was revealed in Paris on Monday (21st October 2019), just under five years before competition is set to begin.
Described as the 'face' of the games, the emblem is a unity of three iconic symbols: The gold medal, the flame, and Marianne - a cherished symbol of the revolution and the people of France.
The curved art-deco design also references a style in vogue in 1924 - the last time Paris hosted the Games.
Launched in the centre of the city of love, the Paris 2024 Organising Committee came up with a creative spectacle to unveil the design as 700 runners traced out the logo satellite-style by running the pattern around central Paris.
Olympic and Paralympic medallists including Renaud Lavillenie, Nantenin Keita, and Sarah Ourahmoune led the way.
The design was then revealed in full on a giant screen at the Grand Rex Cinema at exactly 20:24.

Marianne
The icon of the Games is distinctly feminine paying tribute to a French national symbol which is recognised and renowned world.
Marianne is everywhere in French art and popular culture, woven into the fabric of French identity and the collective remembering of the 1789 French revolution, part of day-to-day life.
The feminine nature of the emblem also remembers the 1900 Paris Games where women were allowed to compete for the first time.
Marianne brings that spirit of revolution and renewal to Paris 2024, an idea that will run through the Games, from organisers to volunteers, to Olympians and the spectators.
People at the heart of the Games
“I congratulate Paris 2024 on the launch of their new emblem. It perfectly reflects their vision and desire to put people at the heart of the Olympic Games Paris 2024."
The words of International Olympic Committee Coordination Commission Chair for the Olympic Games Paris 2024, Pierre-Olivier Beckers-Vieujant.
"The combination of the gold medal, the Olympic flame, and Marianne brings together the values, history and French touch that will make these Olympic Games truly special," he continued.
"I believe that this innovative design will be quickly recognised around the world and be a wonderful calling card for the Olympic Games Paris 2024.”
Olympic Values
The trio of symbols that make up the emblem go right to the core of Olympic values:
The gold medal evoking the eternal strive for excellence, the Olympic flame which burns for friendship, unity, and people dreaming together through sport, and Marianne, who personifies the French revolution and its egalitarian legacy of liberty and equality.
Beyond sport. Paris 2024 aims to write a new page of history with an inclusive, sustainable, and grounded Games.
Sustainable
With a bold aim of becoming the greenest Games ever, Paris 2024 will leave a concrete legacy for the residents of the Seine-Saint-Denis area where much of the Games will take place.
The media and athlete villages will be converted into housing after the Olympics are finished.
And the creation of new local sports facilities like the Olympic Aquatics Centre will inspire and empower a new generation of Olympians.
